Cumbria Clothing Collective is a new initiative that tackles the environmental and ethical challenges posed by the clothing industry, such as waste, CO2 emissions, and exploitative labour practices. They encourage people to rethink their approach to clothing, demonstrating that alternatives to buying new — such as donating, swapping, repurposing, and purchasing second-hand are just as valuable. They aim to raise awareness, influence policymakers, and collaborate with local councils to embed sustainable practices into Cumbria’s climate action, cutting waste and emissions while promoting fair labour conditions. Your involvement is essential, and your actions can drive meaningful change.
We aimed to position Cumbria Clothing Collective as a leading advocate for sustainable clothing, connecting similar initiatives with a fresh, welcoming identity. We created a warm and approachable brand that feels trustworthy and relatable, especially for families striving to make thoughtful clothing decisions. The design captures the essence of a supportive community, making sustainable choices feel natural and attainable.
To align with the organisation’s environmental mission, we placed the messaging against natural backdrops, reinforcing the connection between eco-friendly clothing and the preservation of the environment. The Bradford and Maison typefaces were selected for their combination of elegance and functionality, offering a friendly and inviting tone. Yellow as an accent adds a touch of playfulness, without compromising the brand’s restraint and integrity. This subtle use of colour brings a sense of optimism and energy, reinforcing the positive impact of thoughtful clothing choices.
